Today, on the way home from shopping, Joan and I enjoyed meeting some of her neighbors as they craned their necks to say hello. Fossil Farms of Sussex County raises hundreds of ostriches who can be seen strutting around as if they own the place.
Rumor has it that a bear invaded the property one day, only to be chased (never to return) by only 2 of the big birds. One look at their beaks and their strong two-toed feet can tell you why...to say nothing of their height and running speed (40 mph.)
It was a beautiful day, and we were encouraged that the local wildlife (turkeys, bears, deer, and now, ostriches) seem to be emerging to proclaim the coming of Spring!
