Yesterday and today, Archie alerted us to thousands of blackbirds swarming throughout the trees in our yard. While hanging out the door, I tried to capture not only the visual, but also the sounds of their chirping and wing-flapping. (Ignore the "director" in the background.)
We aren't sure whether they're migrating for early spring, or just staying ahead of the coming storm front. The huge front extends from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico, pushing northeast with its mass of moisture. It's predicted to start snowing here around 8 or 9 pm; but we're only supposed to get the northern edge of the storm for a total of 2-4 inches by tomorrow afternoon. South of here, D.C. in particular, may get over 2 feet before the storm moves out to sea.
If I were a bird, I'd be staying out of the way, too!
(Turn up your sound for full effect.)
