STORM PHOTOS--Click to enlarge

These were all taken from my car.  The blue "sky" is actually the tinting on the windshield.  We've had only 4 hours of sun (2 different days) since before the storm.

The first photo shows a generator placed at the junction box to run the phone lines.  We were without internet and phone lines for the first few days.  Even our cell phones worked only sporadically at first.

The following photos speak for themselves.  They were taken AFTER the cleanup of trees and branches.  Power lines were still dangling, and we had to weave from one side of the road to the other in 3 spots on this end of our street to avoid wires.  What made it even more strange, was that you could drive along with everything looking normal and suddenly come to an area that looked like a war zone.
Notice the transformer laying in the dirt in the last photo.

Our power returned last night at 5:00--YAY!

SUMMER TOYS

I  no sooner got out of my car, when I was attacked by a giggling water shooter!  He obviously relished the idea of having a new (larger?) target!

Look who's behind all this frivolity!

...and someone else has a shiny new toy!

Woohoo--summer is fun!

8th Grade Graduation

Freddy marched in with his class for the graduation ceremony Wed. night.
As each student was called forward to the platform, they stood while one of the teachers read a few sentences that parents wrote for them followed by a favorite Scripture verse.
Here he poses with his Great Grampa.  What a blessing to have him with us, and in good health at 93!

Walt Disney World

Disney World was a whole new experience for Elliot, and a fun experience for the whole family!

After taking in the live animals on the Safari ride, we then rode the train to where the petting zoo is. Elliot enjoyed brushing a gentle goat. Then off we all went to enjoy more of the rides and shows at the Animal Kingdom park.

Another day, Elliot and Kristen clapped along to the tunes in the Mickey Mouse Club live show at Hollywood Studios. One of the things I love about WDW is how most of the shows and rides can be enjoyed by adults and children together. Parents and grandparents are not just spectators there!

Finally, back home, Freddy and Owen enjoyed hot dogs with the rest of the family around the table. All four cousins truly love being together!

FEBRUARY BLUES BASH #14

This year's title was "Leap into Leap Year" with frogs as the theme. Starting at the front door, there were frogs to greet each visitor, including one that croaked when someone walked past.

Next, there were nametags for each guest with a lily pad and frog. The dining room table also featured a frog basket which held chocolate favors with a frog on each container.

There was also a giant frog peeking through some bull rushes and tall grass to welcome those who came. For lunch, we had --no, not frog's legs-- pulled pork sliders and other finger foods, with chocolate cupcakes for dessert. Punch was served in green plastic cups with frog stickers on them and lime slices for lily pads.

After lunch, we asked frog riddles such as: Q. what is a frog's favorite drink? A. croak-a-cola. (You get the idea...) Finally, Cyndy taught us how to make leaping origami frogs out of green cardstock. This last photo shows how a group of middle-aged women can still "get down" and have some fun!

There were lots of laughs here today!

Cat Talk

You know it's been a long winter (in spite of the mild temps this year) when talking to your cat seems normal. Here's what I heard this morning:

When Rick got up from his chair, Archie seized the opportunity to lick the butter off the plate left behind. Upon returning, Rick said to both Archie and Jenny nearby, "What's wrong with you guys? You're acting like animals!"

Really?

Here is Kristen at her violin recital. Notice how poised she is!

She was also sporting glasses (for distance.)
