Veteran Appreciation Day

Since school would be out for Veterans Day, Freddy's class invited Great Grampa to come and speak to them yesterday about his first-hand experiences in World War II. What an honor for a 92-year-old veteran! He brought what photos he had along with his medals and citations, gave a half-hour talk and answered questions from the students.

After his presentation, students were invited to come up to the table for a closer look. Even the school principal took time to participate.

Later, pictures were taken of Freddy and his Great Grampa for the local newspaper. The whole class, as well as those of us in the "gallery" dressed in red, white and blue for the occasion.

One of the boys in the class baked and decorated this delicious cake!

We are all proud to be Americans, but especially proud of our favorite veteran!
