This week, the weather here in Northern New Jersey finally warmed up! It's been in the mid to upper sixties and sunny. So, what do we do? Rick starts gardening, and Doris starts driving.
Tuesday morning, Joan, Lucienne and Joyce joined me for a day in Doylestown. First, we left at 8:30 am and drove to the Michener Art Museum to take in an Ansel Adams exhibit, view the Pennsylvania Impressionist art, and have a coffee in the warm sun on the patio. Next, off we went to lunch at the Cafe Alessio's outdoor cafe which definitely lived up to our expectations. Then back in the car for a short trip to the Fonthill Castle, former home of Henry Mercer. We had signed up for the 1:30 tour which was to be an hour, but our tour guide was a very thorough octogenarian volunteer who obviously loved his work and led our tour for two hours. It really was fascinating!
After a brief stop at the Tile Works on the premises, we headed for home. We HAD to break up the long ride at an ice cream stand along the way, where we enjoyed homemade soft ice cream--yum...
Wednesday brought another fine day which was spent at the home of Diane Rosa where Ruth and I had been invited for lunch. It was an hour and 15 minutes each way on lovely country roads. I tried not to be jealous of her tulip tree already in full bloom while ours is still just buds! She and Ruth enjoyed my travelogue of Prague photos displayed on my laptop.
Today, the temperature was up to the mid seventies! Elaine and I did some local shopping, including groceries needed for our Easter celebrations. It was wonderful to be able to run errands out in the warm sunshine again. Since we got an early start, I was able to relax on the deck this afternoon with my cats nearby. We were all sunning ourselves and enjoying every minute of it!
